Real stories of transformation from the women we serve.

Claudine Twisenge's Resilience
Claudine fled the Democratic Republic of Congo after losing her husband and two children to violence. Arriving in Uganda with her remaining three children, she faced extreme poverty and trauma.
Through Patapia's microfinance program, Claudine received a $100 loan and business training to start a small grocery store. Despite initial challenges, her determination led to success.
"After everything I lost, I never thought I could rebuild my life. Patapia gave me the tools and confidence to create a new future for myself and my children."

Sarah's Tailoring Business
Sarah, a refugee from South Sudan, struggled to provide for her four children. With a $200 loan from Patapia, she started a small tailoring business using skills she learned in her home country.
Today, her business has grown significantly, and she employs three other refugee women. Her income has increased by 400%.
"Patapia didn't just give me money; they gave me hope and a future. Now I can dream again."

Grace's Agricultural Success
Grace, a refugee from Burundi, arrived in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement with agricultural knowledge but no resources to put it to use.
Through Patapia's AgriFinancing program, Grace received a $150 loan to rent land and purchase seeds and tools. Today, she runs a thriving vegetable farm.
"I went from barely surviving to becoming a successful farmer. Now I'm teaching other women."

Esther's Clean Energy Business
Esther, a refugee from Rwanda, saw an opportunity in the lack of access to clean energy in her settlement.
With a $300 loan from Patapia's Clean Energy Financing program, Esther started a business selling solar lanterns and clean cooking stoves.
"I'm proud that my business is both profitable and making a positive impact on my community's health."
